Pandemic Flu

Facts

Flu Pandemics have occurred throughout history, and will happen again. During the last century three have occurred, 1917, 1857 and 1968.

Bird flu is a disease that infects birds and has infected humans. Scientists worry that the genetic makeup of the virus may mutate or change and begin passing from human to human, causing a pandemic. Pandemic flu is not the bird flu. However, bird flu could be the next pandemic. It is unpredictable.

There are things you can do to prepare yourself and family in case of Pandemic.

Keeping your cupboards full of items such as drinking water and non-perishable food items. First aid supplies, medicines, batteries and portable radios are just a few items you may want to keep on hand. Remember you may be asked to remain in your home for a few days to protect yourself from any flu virus.

We at A to Z Health Care have been preparing in case of a flu pandemic such as providing education to our staff and clients. Reviewing proper hand washing techniques, and stressing practicing good health habits, such as getting plenty of sleep, eating well and exercising will help your body fight off illness.
